Nestled in the heart of North Carolina, the Triangle region is among the nation’s best places to live, start a business, raise a family, and earn a world-class education. At the heart of this area, you will find intimate neighborhoods and a family of communities steeped in rich tradition and history.

At the center of this region is the Research Triangle Park, or the Triangle, the nation's largest planned research development community with some of the world's largest corporations, as well as promising start-ups, working side-by-side.

Raleigh and the Triangle have received national and international recognition as being among “the Best Places to Live and Work in the Nation,” “the Best Business Climate,” and “the Best Place for Educational Opportunities in the U.S.,” by Money, Fortune and Time magazines.

The high quality of education found throughout the Triangle is primarily why it continues to be heralded as one of the best places to live in the country. The Wake County public school system earns high marks across the board, outperforming school districts across the state and nation in end-of-course and proficiency tests, SAT scores and other performance-measuring criteria.

Raleigh and Wake County are the home of North Carolina State University, Shaw University, St. Augustine's College, Meredith College, Peace College, and Wake Technical Community College. The entire Triangle region boasts 18 colleges, universities, and community colleges, including internationally renowned Duke University in Durham and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Cary is located in the heart of the Triangle, adjacent to Research Triangle Park, and is only minutes away from the state’s capital and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Named one of the fastest growing cities in the country, Cary is the 7th largest city in North Carolina.

In 2004, Money magazine named the Cary the “hottest town” on the East Coast, and one of the six most desirable places to live in America. Factors affecting the rankings included: median income; population growth; unemployment rates; the cost of residential housing relative to local income levels; and percent of college educated working professionals.

Durham’s vibrant quality of life and commitment to arts and culture contribute to its ever-growing popularity. Durham is known as the City of Medicine, USA, with healthcare as a major industry including more than 300 medical and health-related companies. It is also home to Duke University, North Carolina Central University, the North Carolina School of Science & Math and Durham Technical Community College.

Although not an immediate part of the Triangle, Wake Forest is still heavily associated with Raleigh and maintains a small town image to its residents and newcomers. With a vivid culture, it continues to maintain a sustainable growth.
